A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of October 25 through 31, 2009, as

2

"Respiratory Care Week" in Pennsylvania and commending

3

respiratory therapists for their outstanding contributions to

4

health care.

5

WHEREAS, "National Respiratory Care Week" will be observed

6

October 25 through 31, 2009, nationwide; and

7

WHEREAS, This observance celebrates the contribution that

8

respiratory therapists make to our nation's health care system;

9

and

10

WHEREAS, Respiratory therapists are the only allied health

11

practitioners specifically trained to assist physicians in the

12

care of respiratory patients; and

13

WHEREAS, Across Pennsylvania, respiratory therapists assist

14

with diagnostic procedures, administer oxygen and breathing

15

treatments, conduct pulmonary therapy, teach home care to

16

patients and family members and provide acute care for patients

17

on respirators; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of October 25

2

through 31, 2009, as "Respiratory Care Week" in Pennsylvania;

3

and be it further

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend all

5

respiratory therapists for their outstanding contributions to

6

health care.
