A RESOLUTION

  

1

Honoring the life and expressing condolences upon the death of

2

SPC Chad A. Edmundson, who paid the supreme sacrifice on May

3

27, 2009, while serving his country in Iraq.

4

WHEREAS, Flags across this Commonwealth flew at half-mast

5

June 1 through 4, 2009, in honor of SPC Chad A. Edmundson, of

6

Williamsburg, who paid the supreme sacrifice on May 27, 2009,

7

while serving his country in Iraq; and

8

WHEREAS, SPC Edmundson served with the Pennsylvania Army

9

National Guard's Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry

10

Division in the 56th Stryker Brigade; and

WHEREAS, SPC Edmundson's unit, stationed at Camp Liberty

2

north of Baghdad, was on a joint patrol with Iraqi forces on May

3

27 when an improvised explosive device ripped through the squad,

4

wounding four soldiers; and

5

WHEREAS, SPC Edmundson died from his grievous wounds later

6

that day at the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad; and

7

WHEREAS, Capt. Jason Hoffman described SPC Edmundson as "a

8

builder. By the work of his hands and his winning spirit he

9

built up those around him. He lifted up his squad and platoon

10

with his high motivation"; and

11

WHEREAS, A 2008 graduate of Williamsburg High School, SPC

12

Edmundson enjoyed fishing, camping and other outdoor activities

13

with his family and friends; and 

14

WHEREAS, SPC Edmundson is survived by his mother, Karen

15

Cornell, his father, Roy Edmundson, and his sister, Jessica

16

Miller, and is also mourned by his fiancee, Jessica Welch; and

17

WHEREAS, It is fitting to commend the patriotic and heroic

18

contributions SPC Edmundson made, to be saddened by this brave

19

young soldier's death and to honor the supreme sacrifice he paid

20

on behalf of this nation and Commonwealth; therefore be it

21

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life

22

and express condolences upon the death of SPC Chad A. Edmundson,

23

who paid the supreme sacrifice on May 27, 2009, while serving

24

his country in Iraq.
