A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of October 16 through 22, 2011, as "Credit
Union Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Credit unions are individual, independent
cooperatives founded by people working together toward economic
advancement and uniting people who seek a way to improve their
future; and
WHEREAS, Credit unions call for the pooling of personal
resources and leadership abilities for the good of the
cooperative, provide low-cost financial services to their
members, encourage a regular habit of saving so those in need
may borrow and foster the desire to repay loans so members may
have access to credit when it is required; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania currently has 438 credit unions
empowering people to improve their economic situations by
serving the financial needs of 3.3 million members, associated

through international, regional, State and local organizations
sharing the same commitment to serving credit union members; and
WHEREAS, Credit unions encourage and sponsor activities to
promote the charitable acts of their members; and
WHEREAS, The unselfish efforts of volunteers organized
through credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes
throughout this Commonwealth and beyond; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of October 16 through 22, 2011, as "Credit Union Week" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.
