| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the week of May 21 through 27, 2011, as "Safe |
2 | Boating Week" in Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, The recreational sport of boating attracts tens of |
4 | thousands of enthusiasts each year, with the overwhelming |
5 | majority practicing safe boating rules and regulations that have |
6 | been taught to them through the good work of the United States |
7 | Coast Guard Auxiliary; and |
8 | WHEREAS, This good work is conducted locally by members of |
9 | the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 5, who work |
10 | closely with the Fish and Boat Commission to ensure safe boating |
11 | on State waterways; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Last year, 61 boating injuries requiring medical |
13 | treatment were reported, most of which occurred as the result of |
14 | collisions with submerged objects or with other vessels; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The good work of the members of the United States |
16 | Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 5, and their fellow auxiliary |

1 | members across the nation, deserves to be lauded and recognized, |
2 | along with their substantial efforts to improve safety on our |
3 | waterways; therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the |
5 | week of May 21 through 27, 2011, as "Safe Boating Week" in |
6 | Pennsylvania. |
