A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the 2011 Mt. Lebanon High School Girls'

2

Basketball Team on becoming the first Pennsylvania

3

Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAAA school

4

to win three consecutive State championships.

5

WHEREAS, On March 25, 2011, the Mt. Lebanon High School Blue

6

Devils Girls' Basketball Team defeated Archbishop Carroll High

7

School in the PIAA Class AAAA Championship Game at Penn State

8

University's Bryce Jordan Center by a score of 47-46; and

9

WHEREAS, This championship victory has garnered the Blue

10

Devils the extraordinary and unprecedented milestone of

11

capturing three consecutive PIAA titles, and only the second

12

girls' team in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic

13

League (WPIAL) history to achieve such a feat; and

14

WHEREAS, Despite losing nine of their seniors a year ago, the

15

mighty Blue and Gold maintained their tradition as a champion-

caliber basketball team; and

WHEREAS, In striving to win this year's championship game,

3

the Blue Devils faced off for the second time this season

4

against Archbishop Carroll High School, and in a hard-fought and

5

defense-oriented contest, once again emerged victorious; and

6

WHEREAS, The Blue Devils were the only WPIAL girls' team

7

contending for a PIAA crown this year, appearing in the State

8

championship game for the fourth time in a row; and

9

WHEREAS, The Mt. Lebanon High School Girls' Basketball Team

10

became the sixth PIAA girls' program to "three-peat" as

11

champions since PIAA basketball was expanded to four

12

classifications prior to the 1983-1984 season, thus placing the

13

Blue Devils team in the annals of the PIAA; therefore be it

14

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the

15

members of the 2011 Mt. Lebanon High School Girls' Basketball

16

Team for its exceptional season and for their historic

17

achievement of being the first and only Class AAAA school to

18

capture three consecutive State championships; and be it further

19

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the

20

coaches and support staff, school administrators and all

21

enthusiastic boosters of the 2011 Mt. Lebanon High School Girls'

22

Basketball Team for their many contributions which have

23

culminated in three consecutive State titles; and be it further

24

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

25

Dr. Ron Davis, Principal of Mt. Lebanon High School, and to Dori

26

Oldaker, Head Coach of the 2011 Blue Devils Girls' Basketball

27
