| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Supporting the Divided We Fail effort and urging Federal and |
2 | State officials to work together across party lines. |
3 | WHEREAS, The opportunity to have access to health care and |
4 | long-term financial security is a basic need that all Americans |
5 | share and it is the foundation for future generations; and |
6 | WHEREAS, All Americans should have peace of mind about their |
7 | future long-term financial security; and |
8 | WHEREAS, All Americans should have access to affordable |
9 | health care, including prescription drugs, and these costs |
10 | should not burden future generations; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Wellness and prevention efforts, including changes |
12 | in personal behavior such as diet and exercise, should be top |
13 | national priorities; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Americans should have choices when it comes to long- |

1 | term care, allowing them to maintain their independence at home |
2 | or in their communities with expanded and affordable financing |
3 | options; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Our children and grandchildren should have an |
5 | adequate quality of life when they retire, and Social Security |
6 | must be strengthened without burdening future generations; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Workers should be provided with financial incentives |
8 | to save, should have access to effective retirement plans and |
9 | should be able to keep working and contributing to society |
10 | regardless of age; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Americans of all ages should have access to tools to |
12 | help manage their finances and save for the future and better, |
13 | easy-to-understand information to help them increase their |
14 | financial literacy and manage their money wisely; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Individuals, businesses, health care providers, |
16 | nonprofit organizations and government agencies must work |
17 | together to find solutions personally, privately and publicly; |
18 | and |
19 | WHEREAS, AARP, the Business Roundtable, the National |
20 | Federation of Independent Business and the Service Employees |
21 | International Union have committed to be champions for this new |
22 | American Dream by supporting Divided We Fail and bringing the |
23 | voices of millions of Americans to support their elected leaders |
24 | and urge them to work together across party lines to provide |
25 | action and answers on these issues; therefore be it |
26 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives support the |
27 | Divided We Fail effort and urge our Federal and State elected |
28 | officials and candidates to do the same. |
