AN ACT

Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the

2

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for

3

commitment or fine for contempt.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 4133 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 4133.  Commitment or fine for contempt.

9

Except as otherwise provided by statute, the punishment of

10

commitment for contempt provided in section 4132 (relating to

11

attachment and summary punishment for contempts) shall extend

12

only to contempts committed in open court and may not be for a

13

period in excess of two years. All other contempts shall be

14

punished by fine only.

15

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
