AN ACT

Amending Title 65 (Public Officers) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, in ethics standards and financial

3

disclosure, further providing for definitions and for

4

restricted activities.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

6

hereby enacts as follows:

7

Section 1.  Section 1102 of Title 65 of the Pennsylvania

8

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding definitions to read:

9

§ 1102.  Definitions.

10

The following words and phrases when used in this section

11

shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the

12

context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Legislative district."  Any one of the 50 senatorial or 203

15

representative districts of the Commonwealth.

16

"Nonprofit organization."  A civic league or organization not

18

organized for profit but operated exclusively for the promotion

19

of social welfare or a local association of employees, the

membership of which is limited to the employees of a designated

2

person or persons in a particular municipality and the net

3

earnings of which are devoted exclusively to charitable,

4

educational or recreational purposes and of which no part of the

5

net earnings of such entity insures to the benefit of any

6

private shareholder or individual.

Section 2.  Section 1103 of Title 65 is amended by adding a

9

subsection to read:

§ 1103.  Restricted activities.

11

(k)  Nonprofit organization board.--No public official or any

13

member of his or her staff shall serve on the board of directors

14

of a nonprofit organization that is registered within or serves

15

residents of a legislative district or political subdivision of

16

which the public official was elected to represent.

Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
