| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating and adopting the River City Brass Band as the |
2 | official brass band of Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Since 1981, the River City Brass Band has been |
4 | striving to keep the tradition of the American Brass Band alive, |
5 | performing a regular concert season of 63 concerts in |
6 | southwestern Pennsylvania and 20 to 30 special concerts |
7 | throughout the United States; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Over 100,000 fans annually enjoy a repertoire that |
9 | includes a diverse selection of America's favorites, including |
10 | classical, Broadway and marching tunes; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Because of its unique status as the only performing |
12 | brass band in the world, its commitment to the American Brass |
13 | music genre and strong roots in western Pennsylvania, the River |
14 | City Brass Band can be an effective ambassador for Pennsylvania |
15 | at home and abroad; and |
16 | WHEREAS, The mission of the River City Brass Band is to |

1 | propagate and perpetuate musical culture, primarily American |
2 | musical culture, across a broad spectrum of the public through |
3 | the presentation of brass band performances, educational |
4 | programs and the production of recordings. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Official brass band of Pennsylvania. |
8 | The River City Brass Band is hereby designated and adopted as |
9 | the official brass band of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. |
10 | Section 2. Effective date. |
11 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
