AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

2

act relating to the public school system, including certain

3

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

4

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

5

laws relating thereto," in grounds and buildings, further

6

providing for display of United States flag and development

7

of patriotism.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

9

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 771 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,

11

No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by

12

adding a subsection to read:

Section 771.  Display of United States Flag; Development of

14

Patriotism.--* * *

15

(e)  At least once annually in each school building a school

16

entity shall provide instruction to students in the lowest grade

17

level offered in that building regarding the proper care of and

18

respect for the Flag of the United States of America. This

19

instruction may be provided in an assembly or in a classroom

setting during a portion of one or more school days.

2

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
