| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, further providing for issuance and content of |
3 | driver's license. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 1510(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes is amended and the section is amended by |
8 | adding a subsection to read: |
9 | § 1510. Issuance and content of driver's license. |
10 | (a) General rule.--The department shall, upon payment of the |
11 | required fee, issue to every qualified applicant a driver's |
12 | license indicating the type or general class of vehicles the |
13 | licensee is authorized to drive and any endorsements or |
14 | restrictions, which license, except as provided in subsection |
15 | (j), shall contain a distinguishing number assigned by the |
16 | department to the licensee, the actual name, date of birth, |

1 | residence address, a color photograph or photographic facsimile |
2 | of the licensee, information identifying the licensee as a |
3 | veteran if applicable, such other information as may be required |
4 | by the department, and either a facsimile of the signature of |
5 | the licensee or a space upon which the licensee shall write his |
6 | usual signature with pen and ink. Program participants in the |
7 | Address Confidentiality Program under 23 Pa.C.S. Ch. 67 |
8 | (relating to domestic and sexual violence victim address |
9 | confidentiality) may use a substitute address designated by the |
10 | Office of Victim Advocate as their address. Personal medical |
11 | data and other information for use in an emergency may be |
12 | included as a part of the license. Information other than that |
13 | required to identify the licensee, the distinguishing number and |
14 | the class of license issued may be included in microdata form. |
15 | Except as provided in subsection (f), an applicant shall include |
16 | his Social Security number on his license application, but the |
17 | Social Security number shall not be included on the license. No |
18 | driver's license shall be valid until it has been signed by the |
19 | licensee. |

21 | (b.1) Veteran designation.--A person may apply to the |
22 | department to obtain a veteran designation on a driver's license |
23 | or identification card issued under this subchapter by providing |
24 | a United States Department of Defense discharge document, |
25 | otherwise known as a DD Form 214, that shows a discharge status |
26 | of "honorable" or "general under honorable conditions" that |
27 | establishes the person's service in the armed forces of the |
28 | United States. |
