It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Requires Director of Department of State Lands to promote use of public land for compensatory mitigation. Requires director to report to Legislative Assembly. Declares emergency, effective on passage. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to the use of public land for compensatory mitigation; and declaring an emergency. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) As used in this section: (a) 'Compensatory mitigation' has the meaning given that term in ORS 196.600. (b) 'Public land' has the meaning given that term in ORS 273.006. (2) The Director of the Department of State Lands shall promote the use of public land for compensatory mitigation by: (a) Publicizing the availability of public land for compensatory mitigation. (b) Ensuring that persons who must conduct compensatory mitigation are notified of the availability of public land for compensatory mitigation. (c) Implementing other activities that will ensure the use of public land for compensatory mitigation. + } SECTION 2. { + The Director of the Department of State Lands shall report on steps taken pursuant to section 1 of this 2013 Act to the interim committees of the Legislative Assembly related to the environment and natural resources on or before December 1, 2013. + } SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 2013 Act is repealed on January 2, 2015. + } SECTION 4. { + This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its passage. + } ----------
