It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Authorizes rural fire protection districts and state or local law enforcement agencies to contract for agencies to provide district with special law enforcement services as requested by district. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to contracts between rural fire protection districts and law enforcement agencies. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2013 Act is added to and made a part of ORS chapter 478. + } SECTION 2. { + (1) As used in this section, 'state or local law enforcement agency' means the Department of State Police, a county sheriff's department or a city police department. (2) In addition to any other power of a rural fire protection district or a state or local law enforcement agency, a district and one or more state or local law enforcement agencies having jurisdiction within the district may enter into a contract for the agencies to provide the district with a special level or type of law enforcement services as requested by the district. In addition to any applicable provisions required under ORS 190.020, a contract described in this section may include, but need not be limited to, provisions establishing the level, type and priority of the law enforcement services to be provided and the payment to be made for those services and provisions specifying the cross-jurisdictional functions and activities designated for performance by the law enforcement agencies that are parties to the contract. This section does not limit the inherent authority of a state or local law enforcement agency to carry out its normal functions, including but not limited to the performance of law enforcement services that may benefit a district. + } ----------
