SUMMARY

Directs Department of Veterans' Affairs to establish toll-free
telephone line to assist victims of military sexual trauma.
Appropriates moneys from General Fund to department for
purposes of establishing and operating telephone line.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to military sexual trauma; appropriating money; and
declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Department of Veterans' Affairs shall
establish a toll-free telephone line to assist victims of
military sexual trauma. The telephone line must be available 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
(2) The department may contract with another entity to
establish and operate the telephone line. + }
SECTION 2. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Department of
Veterans' Affairs, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2011, out
of the General Fund, the amount of $250,000, which may be
expended for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of
section 1 of this 2011 Act. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2011 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2011 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
