76th OREGON LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY--2011 Regular Session Enrolled House Concurrent Resolution 29 Sponsored by Representatives OLSON, CONGER, MCLANE Whereas Oregon State Police Trooper Scott A. Lyons was born on August 26, 1974, to Bill and Barb Lyons in Corvallis; and Whereas Trooper Lyons loved baseball and basketball, as well as hunting and fishing; and Whereas Trooper Lyons graduated from Bend High School in 1992, attended Western Oregon University for two years and was then hired by the Oregon State Police; and Whereas Trooper Lyons at the age of 23 followed in his father's footsteps in becoming a State Trooper; and Whereas Trooper Lyons entered the Oregon State Police Recruit School in 1994 and, upon graduation, was assigned to the Gilchrist-Crescent area; and Whereas Trooper Lyons was killed in the line of duty, along with Oregon State Police Sergeant James D. Rector, on September 2, 1997, in a traffic accident while on routine patrol west of Crescent on U.S. Highway 97; and Whereas Trooper Lyons, a determined and driven individual who had a lot going for him at the young age of 23, was a very promising young man with a bright future; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: That we, the members of the Seventy-sixth Legislative Assembly, recognize and honor Trooper Scott A.
