                             SUMMARY

The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.

  Designates trillium ( { - Trillium ovatum - }) as official
flower of State of Oregon.

                      CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Whereas trillium is an abundant woodland flower native to the
northwestern United States; and
Whereas the family Trilliaceae is unique to western North
America and Asia, with the vast majority appearing in North
America; and
Whereas there are eight trillium species native to North
America, many of which are found in Oregon, the most common being
 { - Trillium ovatum - }; and
Whereas trillium is a harbinger of spring, the white,
three-petaled blossom appearing as a forerunner of the lush and
abundant spring and summer flora that populate the forestlands of
this state; and
Whereas trillium is often found growing under the Douglas fir,
the official tree of the State of Oregon; and
Whereas the more than 100-year tenure of the Oregon grape as
the official flower of the State of Oregon will not be forgotten;
now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
  That beginning on January 1, 2014, trillium ( { - Trillium
ovatum - }) is the official flower of the State of Oregon.
