                             SUMMARY

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.

  Creates special military hunting season to allow service
members to hunt deer and elk during specified period.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to special military hunting season.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + (1) As used in this section, 'service member '
means a person who:
  (a) Is an active duty member of the Armed Forces of the United
States and includes a member of the Oregon National Guard serving
on active duty under Title 32 of the United States Code; and
  (b) Has been a resident of Oregon for at least six consecutive
months prior to application for a license.
  (2) There is created a special military hunting season to allow
service members to hunt deer and elk.
  (3) The State Fish and Wildlife Commission is authorized to
issue, upon application by the service member and at no cost to
the service member, a special military hunting season license.
  (4) The license allows a service member to hunt deer and elk
from August 1 through March 31 of the following year.
  (5) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a service
member issued a special military hunting season license must
comply with all laws and rules pertaining to tags and permits
required for the hunting of deer and elk.
  (6) The commission shall adopt rules necessary to carry out the
provisions of this section. + }
