AN ACT
Relating to the definition of school zone; amending ORS 801.462.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. ORS 801.462 is amended to read:
801.462. (1) 'School zone' means both of the following:
(a) A specific segment of highway that is adjacent to school
grounds and that is marked by signs described in subsection (2)
of this section.
(b) A crosswalk that is not adjacent to school grounds and that
is marked by signs described in subsection (2) of this section.
(2) Signs marking a school zone may include any words, symbols
or combination of words and symbols that gives notice of the
presence of the school zone.
{ + (3) As used in this section, 'school' means a public or
private educational institution for one or more levels
kindergarten through grade 12 or a publicly funded early
childhood education program located in a building currently or
previously owned by a school district as defined in ORS
330.005. + }
