SUMMARY

Directs Oregon Law Commission to appoint work group to study
methods of selecting judges. Directs commission to report to
committee or interim committee of Legislative Assembly on results
of study before December 31, 2013.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to the selection of judges; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Oregon Law Commission shall appoint a
work group to study and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages
of various methods of selecting judges.
(2) The commission shall report on the study to an appropriate
committee or interim committee of the Legislative Assembly before
December 31, 2013. + }
SECTION 2. { + This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
