It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Allows physician or dentist who treats patients who are receiving medical assistance under state's medical assistance program to elect to participate as independent contractor in state deferred compensation plan. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to deferred compensation. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act is added to and made a part of ORS 243.401 to 243.507. + } SECTION 2. { + (1) Subject to the provisions of this section, any physician licensed under ORS chapter 677, or dentist licensed under ORS chapter 679, who treats patients who are receiving medical assistance as defined in ORS 414.025 and receives reimbursement from this state's medical assistance program, may elect to participate as an independent contractor in the state deferred compensation plan established under ORS 243.401 to 243.507. Only that portion of compensation received from the state as reimbursement for treatment of patients who are receiving medical assistance as defined in ORS 414.025 may be used as the basis for deferred compensation under a contract entered into under ORS 243.440. (2) The Oregon Health Authority may establish eligibility requirements for participation in the state deferred compensation plan under this section based on the number of patients who are treated by a physician or dentist and who are receiving medical assistance as defined in ORS 414.025. (3) The Public Employees Retirement Board may establish requirements for participation in the state deferred compensation plan under this section. + } ----------
