Requires Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon to sponsor and support establishment of community-based initiative to provide volunteer transit foot patrols. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to light rail. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon shall sponsor and support the establishment of a community-based initiative to provide volunteer transit foot patrols to monitor areas of the light rail system that are accessible by members of the public. (2) In establishing transit foot patrols, the district may cooperate with existing community-based organizations including, but not limited to, neighborhood associations. (3) Transit foot patrol volunteers do not have authority to participate actively in law enforcement or in measures taken by district personnel to enforce district security policy. A transit foot patrol volunteer who observes a violation of law or district security policy shall report the observations to the appropriate law enforcement official or district personnel. + } ----------
