                             SUMMARY

The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the

consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as

  Directs State Mortuary and Cemetery Board to study possibility
of licensing practitioners to assist with death care performed
outside of conventional funeral establishment, and to report
results of study to legislature.
  Declares emergency, effective on passage.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to family funeral assistants; and declaring an
  emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + (1) The State Mortuary and Cemetery Board shall
study the possibility of licensing practitioners to provide
assistance to persons who wish to control and perform death care
outside of a conventional funeral establishment.
  (2) The board shall report to an interim committee of the
Legislative Assembly related to health care on the results of the
study performed under subsection (1) of this section on or before
September 1, 2012. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + This 2011 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2011 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
