Requires telecommunications contract between telecommunications
utility and residential customer to allow customer to terminate
contract without penalty if customer enters hospice program.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to telecommunications contracts.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 759. + }
SECTION 2. { + (1) As used in this section, 'hospice program '
has the meaning given that term in ORS 443.850.
(2) A telecommunications utility may not enter into a contract
for provision of telecommunications services with a residential
customer in this state for a period exceeding three months unless
the contract includes a provision allowing the customer to
terminate the contract without penalty if the customer enters a
hospice program. + }
SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act applies to all
contracts between telecommunications utilities and residential
customers entered into or renewed on or after the effective date
of this 2011 Act. + }
