A RESOLUTION
Honoring the City of Dublin on being named a World Festival and Event City.

WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the City of Dublin on being designated a World Festival and Event City in the under 1 million population category by the International Festivals and Events Association, September 21, 2012; and

WHEREAS,  This prestigious distinction is a fitting tribute to the City of Dublin, for it is one of only two cities in the nation to receive a 2012 World Festival and Event City Award. In addition, Dublin received seven Haas and Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards from IFEA, including gold awards in the best TV promotion, best event website, and best social media site categories, silver awards in the best sponsor program for individual sponsor, best miscellaneous t-shirt, and best other merchandise categories, and a bronze award in the best new merchandise category. The city is truly deserving of these fine accolades; and

WHEREAS,  The City of Dublin has enjoyed the benefits of a generous and civic-minded population, and those who currently make it their home take great pride in its rich heritage. This international honor offers local citizens the opportunity to share their memories and experiences and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community, for they have built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future filled with hope and promise; and

WHEREAS,  The progressive ideas and willingness of its citizens to work together for common goals have gained the City of Dublin the reputation of an amiable and pleasant community. Dublin and its residents, including its mayor, Tim Lecklider, can reflect on the city's history while looking forward to a future filled with hope and promise; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the City of Dublin on its recent success and salute its citizens as fine Ohioans; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Dublin.

I, Vincent L. Keeran, hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of Senate Resolution No. 357, adopted by the Ohio Senate, November 6, 2012.
