| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Claude W. Willis on the auspicious occasion of his One Hundredth Birthday, December 4, 2013; and |
| WHEREAS, Claude Willis has witnessed from a unique vantage point the dynamic growth that has taken place in our country and, indeed, the world during the past century. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he has served as a mathematics teacher and coach at Grandard High School, the director of physical education at the Spring Street YMCA, a Sunday school teacher at Shiloh Baptist Church, and the director of the Up-ward Bound program at Ohio Dominican College, from which he retired in 1979, and throughout his lifetime, which has spanned a period of historic change in science, politics, technology, and the arts, he has maintained a fresh perspective and positive outlook that continue to endear him to everyone who has made his acquaintance; and |
| WHEREAS, A loving husband to his wife, the late Frances, Claude Willis has led an exemplary life manifesting those virtues we all seek to emulate. A fine human being and model citizen, he has won a host of admirers among his devoted friends and family, to whom he will remain a lasting inspiration; and |
| WHEREAS, The hopes and dreams, joys and challenges contained in Claude Willis' life experiences continue to enhance and enrich his growth as an individual and a community member, and he has earned the respect of all who know him. As he celebrates his One Hundredth Birthday, he can reflect with fondness on the memories of years past and remember his many accomplishments with justifiable pride; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to Claude Willis on his One Hundredth Birthday and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Claude W. Willis. |
