BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, Since January 1, 1993, the federal "Professional and | 3 |
Amateur Sports Protection Act," 28 U.S.C. 3701 et seq., has | 4 |
prohibited states from authorizing sports wagering; and | 5 |
WHEREAS, Under the terms of the federal law, sports wagering | 6 |
is legally permitted in states in which it was legally permitted | 7 |
before the enactment of the Act; and | 8 |
WHEREAS, The State of Ohio would like to see an end to the | 9 |
federal ban to allow sports wagering at casinos in Ohio; now | 10 |
therefore be it | 11 |
RESOLVED, That the Congress of the United States is urged to | 12 |
repeal the federal ban on sports wagering; and be it further | 13 |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly | 14 |
authenticated copies of this resolution to the President of the | 15 |
United States, to the President Pro Tempore and Secretary of the | 16 |
United States Senate, to the Speaker and the Clerk of the United | 17 |
States House of Representatives, to the members of the Ohio | 18 |
Congressional delegation, and to the news media of Ohio. | 19 |
