A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To urge the Congress of the United States to repeal 1
the federal ban on sports wagering.2


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS, Since January 1, 1993, the federal "Professional and 3
Amateur Sports Protection Act," 28 U.S.C. 3701 et seq., has 4
prohibited states from authorizing sports wagering; and5

        WHEREAS, Under the terms of the federal law, sports wagering 6
is legally permitted in states in which it was legally permitted 7
before the enactment of the Act; and8

        WHEREAS, The State of Ohio would like to see an end to the 9
federal ban to allow sports wagering at casinos in Ohio; now 10
therefore be it11

        RESOLVED, That the Congress of the United States is urged to 12
repeal the federal ban on sports wagering; and be it further13

        RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly 14
authenticated copies of this resolution to the President of the 15
United States, to the President Pro Tempore and Secretary of the 16
United States Senate, to the Speaker and the Clerk of the United 17
States House of Representatives, to the members of the Ohio 18
Congressional delegation, and to the news media of Ohio. 19
