A BILL

To enact section 4928.661 of the Revised Code to

require electric distribution utilities to obtain

a customer's consent prior to installing a smart

meter on the customer's property.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That section 4928.661 of the Revised Code be	5
enacted to read as follows:	6

Sec. 4928.661. (A) As used in this section, "smart meter"	7
means an electricity meter that uses two-way communication to	8
collect electricity usage and related information from a customer	9
and to deliver information to a customer.	10

(B) An electric distribution utility shall obtain a	11
customer's consent prior to installing a smart meter on the	12
customer's property.	13
