WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of William L. Mallory, Sr., and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and |
WHEREAS, Never content to take a passive role in life, William Mallory gave freely of his talents in all of his endeavors. Serving as a language arts and social studies teacher at Dyer, Sands, and Taft elementary schools, a case worker with the Hamilton County Welfare Department, Juvenile Court, and Citizen's Committee on Youth, and president of the West End Community Council before being elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1966, he was the first African American to hold the position of majority floor leader, a post which he held for twenty years, and he sponsored or co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation throughout his twenty-eight-year career in the legislature; and |
WHEREAS, William Mallory's concern for his community and state was clearly evident in the number of honors and awards bestowed upon him and in his career as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati. Giving generously of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, he displayed exceptional concern and insight and was tireless in his efforts to better the world around him; and |
WHEREAS, William Mallory's selfless dedication to the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and a leading citizen. It is our sincere hope that his memory will be a source of comfort to those who loved and cherished him, including his wife, Fannie, and his six children, Dale, Mark, Leslie, William, Joe, and Dwane; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of William L. Mallory, Sr., and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a truly unique and influential man; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of William L. Mallory, Sr. |
