WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Drew Windle as the 2013 United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year; and |
WHEREAS, This accomplishment is truly noteworthy, for Drew Windle has clearly demonstrated his talent and perseverance, as well as his mental and physical fortitude as a runner. At this year's National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, he won the 800-meter run and helped the 4x400-meter relay team secure a first-place finish, and he also won the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II outdoor meet. Indeed, he has exemplified all of the characteristics that are essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including courage, determination, and an innate sense of the principles of good sportsmanship; and |
WHEREAS, In displaying such exceptional prowess as a member of the Ashland University track and field team, Drew Windle has earned the appreciation of his fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even his most determined rivals. Competition in athletics has enabled him to learn much about dedication and self-discipline, and we take this opportunity to acknowledge his exceptional record of achievement; and |
WHEREAS, Running is an event that requires exceptional stamina and natural ability, and Drew Windle is to be commended for his commitment to this demanding activity. In attaining his athletic goals, he has consistently exhibited the skill and integrity that are the hallmarks of a true champion; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Drew Windle as a national Athlete of the Year and salute him as a fine Ohioan; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Drew Windle. |
