A Senate Resolution recognizing May 2 to May 8, 2022 as Trenton Navy Week in New Jersey.
Whereas, The Senate is pleased to note the occurrence of Trenton Navy Week, which will take place May 2 to 8, 2022; and
Whereas, Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy's flagship outreach effort to regions without a significant Navy presence, with over 250 Navy Weeks held in more than 80 different United States markets; and
Whereas, This felicitous occasion will bring sailors from across the nation to our capital city to express the importance of the United States Navy to Trenton and its residents through demonstrations, performances, and exhibitions that will engage and educate the community on the Navy and its essential mission on behalf of all Americans; and
Whereas, As the United States of America is a maritime nation, our Navy protects our interests at sea, defends freedom, preserves economic prosperity and keeps our seas free and ports full; and
Whereas, In collaboration with the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, the United States Navy is instrumental in securing the safety and security of more than $38 billion in exports from our State; and
Whereas, More than two thousand active and reserve sailors are from the Garden State, eleven thousand Navy retirees have made New Jersey their home, and more than seventy Naval ships have been named after the cities, places, and people of the State; and
Whereas, The people of Trenton take great pride in supporting New Jersey's namesake vessel, as well as the future USS New Jersey, a Virginia-class fast-attack submarine; and
Whereas, It is altogether fitting and proper for the Senate to pause in its deliberations to recognize Trenton Navy Week and the importance the United States Navy holds for all New Jerseyans; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House hereby recognizes May 2 to 8, 2022 as Trenton Navy Week and encourages all citizens to participate and celebrate its observance.
2. Copies of this resolution as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to the Governor and the Mayor of the City of Trenton, New Jersey.

The Senate of the State of New Jersey recognizes May 2 to 8, 2022 as Trenton Navy Week.
