SYNOPSIS
Requires healthcare platforms to advise and consult with consumers.

An Act concerning healthcare platforms and supplementing P.L.2003, c.280 (C.45:14-40 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. In accordance with the requirement to advise and consult as part of the practice of pharmacy pursuant to section 2 of P.L.2003, c.280 (C.45:14-41), a healthcare platform shall advise and consult with a consumer on the therapeutic values, content, hazards and uses of drugs, biologicals and devices sent to the consumer by the platform.
b. Advising and consulting may occur through electronic means, including, but not limited to, electronic mail, text messaging, and video call.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires a healthcare platform to follow current statutory requirements for the practice of pharmacy and advise and consult with a consumer on the therapeutic values, content, hazards and uses of drugs, biologicals and devices sent to the consumer by the platform. Advising and consulting may occur through electronic means, including, but not limited to, electronic mail, text messaging, and video call. "Healthcare platform" is defined in current law to mean an Internet-based service through which a consumer, who may or may not have separate health insurance coverage, may set-up an account or become a member to obtain discounts on prescription or non-prescription drugs or devices and through which other services, including telemedicine, may be provided.
