SYNOPSIS

     Establishes fee cap for replacement key and key fob in subsidized senior housing.

An Act concerning replacement fees for keys and key fobs in subsidized senior housing and supplementing P.L.1995, c.144 (C.55:14I-6.1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  If a tenant who resides in publicly subsidized senior housing is need of a replacement key to their apartment, the fee for a replacement key shall not exceed $25.

     b.  If a tenant who resides in publicly subsidized senior housing is need of a replacement key fob to their apartment, the fee for a replacement key fob shall not exceed $50.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

    

     This bill caps the fees charged for a replacement key or key fob within publicly subsidized senior housing.

     The bill establishes that if a tenant that resides in subsidized senior housing needs a new apartment key, the fee for a replacement key may not exceed $25 under this bill.  Similarly, the bill establishes that a tenant that resides in subsidized senior housing will not be charged a fee in excess of $50 for a replacement key fob.

     This bill would take effect immediately.
