STATEMENT

This bill expands the current exemption from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the "New Jersey State Wage and Hour Law," P.L.1966, c.113 (C.34:11-56a et seq.), to the employees of all summer camps, including summer camps operated by entities other than nonprofit and religious corporations or associations.  The bill would therefore exempt from wage and overtime requirements employees of camps operated by for-profit or non-religious businesses. The law currently provides the exemption to the employees only of camps operated by nonprofit or religious corporations or associations.  The exemption applies only during the months of June, July, August, and September.
