     Prohibits NJTA from passing credit card processing fees to toll payers.

An Act concerning the operations of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and supplementing Title 27 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority shall include funding for the processing of credit card and other electronic transactions in the authority's operating budget.  The authority shall not directly charge a toll payer or customer who has an account with the New Jersey electronic toll collection system for any fees associated with the processing of credit card transactions or other similar electronic transactions.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill prohibits the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) from charging toll payers or New Jersey E-ZPass account holders for any fees associated with the processing of credit card transactions or other similar electronic transactions.  The bill codifies an existing practice of the NJTA.
