SYNOPSIS
Requires Division of Consumer Affairs to make certain consumer reviews and complaints publicly available.

An Act concerning consumer reviews and complaints and supplementing P.L.1960, c.39 (C.56:8-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. The director shall establish a section on the division's website through which consumers may post public reviews about businesses, contractors, and any other entity that provides goods or services to consumers in the State.
b. The director shall establish, on the division's website, a searchable directory of consumer complaints filed with the division, in accordance with the provisions of P.L.1960, c.39 (C.56:8-1 et seq.), against a business, contractor, or any other entity that provides goods or services to consumers in the State. The information provided shall include, but not be limited to: (1) the name of, and contact information for, the business, contractor, or entity; (2) the date the complaint was filed; (3) the reason for the complaint; (4) the status of the complaint; and (5) the disposition of the complaint, if applicable.
2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the seventh month next following the date of enactment.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs to establish a section on the division's website through which consumers may post public reviews about businesses, contractors, and any other entity that provides goods or services to consumers in the State.
Additionally, the bill requires the director to establish a searchable directory of consumer complaints filed with the division under the consumer fraud act against a business, contractor, or any other entity that provides goods or services to consumers in the State. The information provided will include, at a minimum: (1) the name of, and contact information for, the business, contractor, or entity; (2) the date the complaint was filed; (3) the reason for the complaint; (4) the status of the complaint; and (5) the disposition of the complaint, if applicable.
