SYNOPSIS

     Requires Division of Purchase and Property to establish Internet commerce site for purchase of fire equipment approved by State contract.

An Act concerning the purchase of fire equipment and supplementing Title 52 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  The Director of the Division of Purchase and Property in the Department of the Treasury, in consultation with the Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee of the Division of Fire Safety in the Department of Community Affairs, shall establish, or contract for the establishment and hosting of, an Internet commerce site on which all fire engines, apparatus and equipment for which a State contract has been issued pursuant to section 12 of P.L.1971, c.198 (C.40A:11-12) may be purchased by local units.

 

     2.  It shall be the responsibility of the Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee of the Division of Fire Safety in the Department of Community Affairs to solicit the permission of the vendors of all fire engines, apparatus and equipment for which a State contract has been issued pursuant to section 12 of P.L.1971, c.198 (C.40A:11-12) to post their items for sale on the Internet commerce site established pursuant to section 1 of P.L.    ,                   c.    (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill). 

 

     3. This act shall take effect immediately, but section 1 shall remain inoperative until the first day of the tenth month next following enactment. 

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the Director of the Division of Purchase and Property in the Department of the Treasury, in consultation with the Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee of the Division of Fire Safety in the Department of Community Affairs, to establish an Internet commerce site on which all fire engines, apparatus and equipment for which a State contract has been issued pursuant to section 12 of P.L.1971, c.198 (C.40A:11-12) can be purchased by local units.  The bill requires the Fire Protection Equipment Advisory Committee to solicit the permission of fire equipment vendors to post their items for sale on the website.  Finally, the bill provides nine months for the website to be established.
