An Assembly Resolution calling on Governor Christie to make it a priority to create jobs, provide jobs training, and spur economic development.

Whereas, The State of New Jersey is experiencing the deepest economic recession since the Great Depression, which is having a critical impact on everyday people living in this State who are struggling to maintain or find jobs in an increasingly difficult environment; and

Whereas, Those same New Jerseyans are the taxpayers that provide the revenue needed to operate essential government services; and

Whereas, Their taxpayer dollars should be spent to maximize the creation of jobs, provide jobs training, and maintain the economic vitality of our communities; and

Whereas, The State of New Jersey should aggressively promote the State as a desirable place in which to work, start a business, or expand business operations, and promote the State as an economic leader in the global marketplace; and

Whereas, The State of New Jersey should continue to provide and enhance the services that make our State attractive to domestic, out-of-state, and international businesses alike, through measures such as tax incentives, financing programs, international trade and export assistance, workforce education and training programs, and one-stop assistance for businesses wishing to start or expand operations in our State; and

Whereas, A great number and diversity of job opportunities will be created if the State of New Jersey continues to make job creation, job training, and economic development a foundation of our State planning and policy well into the 21st century; and

Whereas, It is altogether fitting and proper for the General Assembly to encourage Governor Christie to make it his number one priority to increase job opportunities, provide the resources essential to developing a highly-skilled and well-educated workforce, and enhance efforts to improve the economy overall; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

     1.    This House, respectfully calls on Governor Christie to make it a priority to create jobs, provide jobs training, and spur economic development.

STATEMENT

This resolution calls on Governor Christie to make it a priority to create jobs, provide jobs training, and spur economic development.

As New Jersey is experiencing the deepest economic recession since the Great Depression, everyday people living in this State are struggling to maintain or find jobs in an increasingly difficult environment. Those same New Jerseyans are the taxpayers that provide the revenue needed to operate essential government services. As such, their taxpayer dollars should be spent to maximize the creation of jobs, provide jobs training, and maintain the economic vitality of our communities.

A great number and diversity of job opportunities will be created if the State of New Jersey continues to make job creation, job training, and economic development a foundation of our State planning and policy well into the 21st century. Therefore, it is of great importance to declare job creation as a priority in this State.
