An Assembly Resolution recognizing New Jersey SHARES for 15 years of service to the people of New Jersey.
Whereas, October 2014 marks the conclusion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of New Jersey SHARES, Inc. (NJ SHARES), a State-wide non-profit organization that provides to individuals and families experiencing temporary financial hardship help with electric and gas utility bills; and
Whereas, NJ SHARES has ably upheld its mission through advocacy, community outreach, education, information, and referrals; and
Whereas, NJ SHARES operates with a network of 244 agencies in 304 locations and has distributed in excess of $75 million in grants to more than 177,500 homes; and
Whereas, The month of October has been recognized by the United States as National Energy Action Month, in which citizens are encouraged to work together to achieve greater energy security, a more robust economy, and a healthier environment for children by combating climate change and improving the environment; and
Whereas, NJ SHARES has acted as a strong advocate of National Energy Action Month within this State, with October being a time of year when concern for energy costs increases for many New Jersey individuals and families; and
Whereas, The leadership and staff of NJ SHARES have continued to work tirelessly and effectively in service of others and are recognized and saluted for their outstanding service and exemplary dedication that have contributed to NJ SHARES sterling reputation; and
Whereas, The strength and success of the State, the vitality of its communities, and the effectiveness of our country depends, in great measure, upon superb organizations like NJ SHARES; and
Whereas, The General Assembly of New Jersey is pleased to recognize NJ SHARES for 15 years of exemplary dedication and steadfast commitment to individuals and families in need; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House honors and congratulates New Jersey SHARES, Inc. (NJ SHARES) for serving the people of this State for 15 years, salutes NJ SHARES leadership and staff for their many years of selfless and tireless service, and extends sincere best wishes for NJ SHARES continued success.
2. Copies of this resolution, as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the Clerk of the General Assembly to NJ SHARES.
STATEMENT
This Assembly resolution honors and congratulates New Jersey SHARES, Inc. (NJ SHARES) for the 15th anniversary of the organization's establishment in this State. NJ SHARES is a non-profit organization that provides year round financial help with natural gas and electric utility bills to those experiencing temporary financial difficulty. The strength and success of the State, the vitality of its communities, and the effectiveness of our country depends upon superb organizations like NJ SHARES.
