SYNOPSIS
Supports veteran-owned businesses in New Jersey.
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
As introduced.
An Assembly Resolution supporting businesses owned by veterans in New Jersey.
Whereas, This State and our nation are forever indebted to our veterans and their families for the tremendous sacrifices they have made to protect the freedoms that all Americans enjoy, and, therefore, it is our responsibility and privilege to support our veterans and to support the businesses that they own; and
Whereas, On a regular basis we deploy hundreds of our young men and women to overseas bases, effectively putting on hold opportunities that would normally come to them such as starting and building a new business; and
Whereas, Some veterans who own businesses have watched their businesses lose ground during their service on active duty while their competitors spent time improving their business; and
Whereas, This State also recognizes that there are companies that are owned by veterans who have suffered from and continue to suffer from grave injuries and disabilities as a consequence of that service; and
Whereas, Veteran-owned businesses perform a vital role in New Jersey, and the robust participation of these businesses contributes significantly to the economic growth and vitality of this State; and
Whereas, Our veterans have the leadership skills and experience to become successful entrepreneurs and business owners, and this State supports successful veteran entrepreneurship and business development; and
Whereas, The citizens of New Jersey will always remember the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform for the freedom of our country and our people, and we offer our support to our veteran-owned businesses because doing so will help our veterans build family-sustaining civil lives and will grow the economy of our State; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The General Assembly of New Jersey supports businesses owned by veterans in this State and calls upon the public to support these businesses in order to grow our State's economy and thank our veterans for their service, bravery, and sacrifice on behalf of our country.
2. Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested to by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Governor of this State, and to the New Jersey Business and Industry Association.
STATEMENT
This Assembly resolution supports businesses owned by veterans in New Jersey and calls upon the public to support businesses that are owned by the persons who have honorably and courageously served this country in the Armed Forces of the United States and the New Jersey National Guard. Many have lost ground in developing and sustaining their businesses as a consequence of their active service in the military. Many of these veterans have suffered grave injuries and disabilities. In the face of all of these obstacles, however, businesses owned by veterans perform a vital role in New Jersey's economic growth and development. By supporting veteran-owned businesses, we continue to thank our veterans for their sacrifices and help them to build family-sustaining civil lives.
