Urges Congress to enact H.R.847, "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010."

An Assembly Resolution urging the United States Congress to enact H.R.847, the "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010."
Whereas, The "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010," would provide medical monitoring and treatment to 9/11 emergency responders and recovery and cleanup workers who risked their lives in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks; and
Whereas, These brave men and women were exposed to airborne toxins and other hazards in the hours, days, and months following the attack, and this exposure is suspected to have caused serious long-term health problems; and
Whereas, This country owes these heroes a great debt for their service at a terrible time in our nation's history, yet the U.S. Congress has failed to pass this bill that would acknowledge their sacrifice; and
Whereas, 9/11 emergency responders and recovery and cleanup workers came from all across the county including a significant number of people from New Jersey, and this bill would provide crucial resources to diagnose, monitor, and treat the illnesses resulting from their service to this country; and
Whereas, It is altogether fitting and proper for this House to urge the United State Congress to pass, and the President to sign into law, "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010," H.R.847; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The Assembly of the State of New Jersey respectfully urges the Congress of the United States to pass H.R.847, the "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010."
2. Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly, and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and each member of Congress elected from this State.
STATEMENT
This Assembly resolution urges Congress to enact H.R.847, "James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010." The bill would provide medical monitoring and treatment to 9/11 emergency responders and recovery and cleanup workers who risked their lives in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
9/11 emergency responders and recovery and cleanup workers came from all across the county including a significant number of people from New Jersey. These brave men and women were exposed to airborne toxins and other hazards in the hours, days, and months following the attack, and this exposure is suspected to have caused serious long-term health problems. This bill would provide crucial resources to diagnose, monitor, and treat the illnesses resulting from their service to this country.
