SYNOPSIS
Urges US Air Force and Congress to place new KC-46A tanker planes at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

An Assembly Resolution urging the United States Air Force and the United States Congress to place the new KC-46A-fueling tanker planes at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Whereas, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst covers 42,000 acres in Ocean and Burlington counties, is the only Tri-Service Joint Base in the nation, is the second largest employer in the State of New Jersey, and has a $6.9 billion economic impact on this State; and
Whereas, The Joint Base supports more than 80 mission partners and is a critical asset for the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, and the Reserve component thereof; and
Whereas, The creation of the Joint Base in 2009 increased coordination and collaboration between the military services and achieved greater operational efficiencies, as desired by the United States Department of Defense; and
Whereas, Air mobility refueling is a major mission at the Joint Base, which is home to KC-10 and KC-135 tanker aircraft; and
Whereas, The current fleet of tanker aircraft is aging and must be replaced with the new KC-46A tanker aircraft, and
Whereas, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is one of eleven installations nationwide that are being evaluated by the Air Force for the siting of the new KC-46A tanker aircraft; and
Whereas, The Joint Base has superior facilities and capabilities for continued air mobility missions using the new KC-46A tanker aircraft; and
Whereas, Given the tremendous importance of the Joint Base to Ocean and Burlington counties, and New Jersey as a whole, it is fitting and proper for this House to support the placing of the new KC-46A tanker aircraft at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; now therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House urges the United States Air Force and the United States Congress to place the new KC-46A tanker planes at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
2. Copies of this
resolution, as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the
Clerk of the General Assembly to the Secretary of the United States Air Force,
the United States Secretary of Defense, the Majority Leader of the United
States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and
to every member of Congress elected from New Jersey.
STATEMENT
This Assembly resolution urges the United States Air Force and the United States Congress to place the new KC-46A tanker planes at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
