SYNOPSIS
Urges Congress to place statue in US Capital in honor of Charles "Charlie" Kirk.

A Concurrent Resolution respectfully urging Congress to place a statue in the United States Capitol in honor of Charles "Charlie" Kirk.
Whereas, Charles "Charlie" Kirk was a conservative political activist, talk radio host, public speaker, and author; and
Whereas, At the age of 18, Charlie co-founded Turning Point USA, which is a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics at schools, colleges, and universities; and
Whereas, As part of his efforts with Turning Point USA, Charlie engaged in get-out-the-vote campaigns to encourage younger Americans to vote; and
Whereas, During Turning Point USA events, Charlie also held debates on college campuses across the country; and
Whereas, On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was targeted for his publicly stated political views and assassinated during a speaking engagement at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah; and
Whereas, In response, the 119th Congress passed H.Res.719 and S.Res.391, whereby both resolutions strongly condemn Charlie's assassination and offer fitting tributes of his life and legacy; and
Whereas, The United States Senate also passed S.Res.403, which expresses support for designating October 14 as the "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk" in recognition of Charlie's contributions to civic education and public service; and
Whereas, On what would have been Charlie Kirk's 32nd birthday, the President issued a stirring proclamation declaring October 14, 2025 a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk; and
Whereas, That same day, the President posthumously awarded Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom, rightfully providing Charlie with our nation's highest civilian honor; and
Whereas, Members of Congress have also called for a statue of Charlie to be placed in the US Capitol or in other locations around Washington, DC; and
Whereas, Recognizing Charlie with a statue in the Capitol building would remind generations of Americans of his life and legacy; and
Whereas, It is in the public interest of the residents of the State of New Jersey and these great United States to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk and ensure that Charlie's legacy is understood; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey (the Senate concurring):
1. The Legislature of New Jersey respectfully urges the 119th Congress to have a permanent statue in honor of Charles "Charlie" Kirk to be placed in the "Seat of the Government of the United States."
2. Copies of this resolution, as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the Clerk of the General Assembly or the Secretary of the Senate to the Majority and Minority Leaders of the United States Senate, the Speaker and the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, each member of Congress elected from this State, and the family of Charlie Kirk.
