STATEMENT
This bill would make it a crime of the fourth degree to exhibit or display to a municipal prosecutor a fraudulent motor vehicle insurance identification card. Fourth degree crimes are punishable by a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment for up to 18 months, or both.
Under current law, it is a crime of the fourth degree to exhibit or display these cards to a law enforcement officer or motor vehicle inspector. The bill expands this law to also include municipal prosecutors.
