SYNOPSIS
Requires public school employee to be natural person.

An Act concerning public school employees and supplementing chapter 6 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. A public school employee or an individual performing services in a public school pursuant to a contract with a board of education or board of trustees of a charter school or renaissance school project shall be a natural person. This section shall apply to positions including, but not limited to, the following: principal; assistant principal; vice principal; superintendent of schools; school business administrator; school administrator; teacher; substitute teacher; teacher aide; child study team member; school library staff member; school physician; school psychologist; school nurse; school counselor; custodian; school maintenance worker; cafeteria worker; school bus driver; school bus aide; school law enforcement officer; school secretary or clerical worker; or any other position which involves regular contact with students.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill clarifies that school employees and contractors performing services in public schools, including in charter schools and renaissance school projects, are to be natural persons. It is the sponsor's intent that this bill affirms that interactions between students and school personnel are to be conducted by human beings rather than artificial intelligence or automated decision systems.
