SYNOPSIS
Requires AG to post certain information regarding legal action taken against federal government.

An Act concerning certain legal action taken by the Attorney General and supplementing Title 52 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. The Attorney General shall publish on its Internet website information regarding any legal action that the Attorney General has taken against the federal government.
b. The information required to be published on the Internet website of the Attorney General pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall include:
(1) the type of legal action that has been taken;
(2) whether the Division of Law in the Department of Law and Public Safety served as the legal counsel in the legal action or whether outside counsel was retained to represent the State;
(3) the name of the outside counsel that was retained for the legal action, if applicable;
(4) the estimated cost and actual cost of retaining outside legal counsel for the legal action, if applicable;
(5) the estimated cost for the Division of Law in the Department of Law and Public Safety to serve as legal counsel in the legal action, if applicable; and
(6) the outcome of the legal action.
2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the fourth month next following the date of enactment.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the Attorney General to publish on its Internet website information regarding any legal action that the Attorney General has taken against the federal government.
The information is required to include the following: 1) the type of legal action that has been taken; 2) whether the Division of Law served as the legal counsel in the legal action or whether outside counsel was retained to represent the State; 3) the name of the outside counsel that was retained for the legal action, if applicable; 4) the estimated and actual cost of retaining outside legal counsel in the legal action, if applicable; 5) the estimated cost for the Division of Law to serve as legal counsel in the legal action, if applicable; and 6) the outcome of the legal action.
