SYNOPSIS
Allows use of Green Acres funds to fully fund certain projects on State-owned land by certain nonprofit organizations.
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
As introduced.
An Act concerning development, capital repair, or improvement by certain nonprofit organizations of property on State-owned land and supplementing P.L.1999, c.152 (C.13:8C-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 27 of P.L.1999, c.152 (C.13:8C-27) or any other law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, the department shall not require a qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organization to provide matching funds for the development, capital repair, or improvement of property on State-owned land in order to receive funding from the "Preserve New Jersey Green Acres Fund" established pursuant to section 6 of P.L.2016, c.12 (C.13:8C-48), or any other similar State fund. A project carried out by a qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organization for the development, capital repair, or improvement of property on State-owned land may be fully funded by a grant from the "Preserve New Jersey Green Acres Fund" or any other similar State fund.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill supplements the "Garden State Preservation Trust Act" to provide that qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organizations may be eligible to receiving Green Acres funding for the development, capital repair, or improvement of property on State-owned land without providing matching funds for that purpose. In addition, the bill allows the use of Green Acres funding to fully fund projects carried out by a qualifying tax exempt nonprofit organization for the development, capital repair, or improvement of property on State-owned land.
In order to improve the stewardship, good repair, maintenance, and safe operations of certain preserved State facilities and lands for educational, research, outdoor recreation and other suitable uses, this bill provides for the development, capital repair, or improvement by certain nonprofit organizations of property on State-owned land.
