     Permits driver's license to display license holder's blood type upon request.

An Act concerning driver's licenses and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    In addition to the requirements for the form and content of a driver's license issued under R.S.39:3-10 and a probationary license issued under section 4 of P.L.1950, c.127 (C.39:3-13.4), each initial driver's license, and each renewal thereof, and each probationary license issued after the effective date of P.L.    , c.    (C.       ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill) shall display the license holder's blood type upon request by the license holder.  The license holder's blood type shall be displayed in a manner and fashion prescribed by the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the first day of the ninth month following enactment.  However, the chief administrator may take anticipatory actions in advance of that date as may be necessary for the timely implementation of this act.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires a driver's license and probationary driver's license to display the license holder's blood type upon request by the license holder.  Under the bill, the license holder's blood type is to be displayed in a manner and fashion prescribed by the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
