An Act prohibiting casino licensees from entering into certain agreements and supplementing P.L.1977, c.110 (C.5:12-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, no casino licensee, nor any organization representing casino licensees, shall directly or indirectly enter into any contract or agreement under which the licensee or organization agrees to provide funds for the benefit of the horse racing industry or other purpose in return for a promise by the recipients of any of those funds not to seek the enactment of legislation, or the adoption of a constitutional amendment, allowing any form of casino gambling, including but not limited to slot machines or similar devices, at horse race tracks or off-track wagering facilities in this State.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill would prohibit a casino licensee or an organization representing casino licensees from directly or indirectly entering into any contract or agreement under which the licensee or organization agrees to provide funds for the benefit of the horse racing industry or other purpose in return for a promise by the recipients of those funds not to seek the enactment of legislation, or the adoption of a constitutional amendment, that would allow any form of casino gambling, including but not limited to slot machines or similar devices, to take place at horse race tracks or off-track wagering facilities in New Jersey.
