SYNOPSIS

     Revises certain requirements concerning provision of emergency medical services.

An Act concerning emergency medical services and supplementing P.L.1984, c.146 (C.26:2K-7 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  A hospital which 1[is designated] has been issued a certificate of need by the Department of Health to operate1 a Level 1 trauma center shall be exclusively authorized to develop and maintain advanced life support services in the municipality in which the trauma center is located, and shall have the right of first refusal to provide both advanced life support and basic life support services in the municipality 1, provided that the services are provided at no charge to the municipality, and the municipality does not provide basic life support services as a municipal service or as part of a shared services agreement1

     b.    A hospital which 1[is designated] has been issued a certificate of need by the Department of Health to operate1 a Level 1 trauma center shall have the right to apply under expedited review to provide advanced life support services in additional municipalities in which an acute care hospital that 1, as of July 1, 2015,1 is part of the same health system as the Level 1 trauma center is located, provided such application for expedited review is submitted on or before December 31, 1[2015] 20161.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the 180th day after the date of enactment.
