SYNOPSIS
Requires Commissioner of Community Affairs to develop and maintain website providing information concerning services available to people displaced to New Jersey following damage to Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Islands caused by certain natural disasters.

An Act requiring the Commissioner of Community Affairs to develop and maintain a website providing information concerning the services available to people displaced to New Jersey following the damage to Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands and supplementing chapter 15D of Title 52 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Within 180 days of the effective date of P.L. , c. (C. ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill), the Commissioner of Community Affairs, in consultation with the Chief Technology Officer, the commissioners of every other department of State government, and the executive directors of every State commission or agency, shall develop and shall thereafter maintain and update as may be necessary an Internet website or webpage providing information, including Internet links, about each of the State government programs and services that are available to the residents of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands who have been displaced to New Jersey following the destruction to those territories as the result of natural disasters in the fall of 2017.
The Internet website or webpage created pursuant to this section shall provide information and Internet links to the following categories of State programs and services: housing; physical health; financial resources; unemployment benefits; educational and job training opportunities; mental health services; substance abuse services; emergency and family crisis services; protection from domestic violence; economic development opportunities; information concerning the reciprocity requirements for professional and occupational licenses and certifications; public transportation; child care services; legal assistance; and any other program or service which may be available to those residents of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands displaced to New Jersey.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill would require the Commissioner of Community Affairs, in consultation with the Chief Technology Officer, the commissioners of every other department of State government, and the executive directors of every State commission or agency to develop, maintain, and update as may be necessary an Internet website or webpage providing information, including Internet links, about each of the government programs and services that are available to the residents of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands who have who have been displaced to New Jersey following the destruction to those territories as a result of natural disasters in the fall of 2017. The Internet website or webpage is required to be created within 180 days of the effective date of the bill, and provide information and Internet links to the following categories of State programs and services: housing; physical health; financial resources; unemployment benefits; educational and job training opportunities; mental health services; substance abuse services; emergency and family crisis services; protection from domestic violence; economic development opportunities; information concerning the reciprocity requirements for professional and occupational licenses and certifications; public transportation; child care services; legal assistance; and any other program or service which may be available to those residents of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands displaced to New Jersey.
The purpose of the bill is to assist the displaced residents of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands in rebuilding their lives by providing information about State services and programs available to them in one, easily accessible place.
